The Noticer...Are You One?

A few weeks ago while following this woman's updates on facebook, I was introduced to this amazing "little" (as in only 153 pages) book by Andy Andrews.  I began to read it just before bed, thinking I would read for a few minutes and by 2:00 a.m. I was closing the book on the last page.

Interesting.  Inspiring.  Dynamic.

From the flyleaf:

"Your chance to regroup, take a breath, and begin your life again awaits in the simple wisdom and heartwarming story of a man names Jones."

As much as I enjoyed the book, the philosophy and the many quotable phrases, there was something "off" about this book...for me.  I believe in the unseen and the possible.  I believe in the "could it be, might it be" of life.  I know I don't have all the answers and I know that I will never have all the answers.  It does come back to perspective, the running theme of this book.  Even with my "questioning" and finding something "off" about this, I still recommend the read.  What I question, you might not.  But I do believe in perspective and how looking at life with a different lens can make all the difference in the world.

Well, it must be a good read, because even though you found it somewhat "off", it kept you up until you finished...
Hope you are having a fabulous Sunday!

Oh I do too!!! I so believe in the could it be's and the might it be's! For there I find my strength and my hope. I am still regrouping. I have decided that instead of this being the end of my dream job, this is the begining of my awakening. **blows kisses** Deb

I haven't read this book - I really appreciate your recommendations.
I have just started "House Rules" by Piccoult. We have several children in our school with Asberger's and thought this would be a good perspective on them.
Have you read it?
I like what you said about perspective. Sometimes we have to step back and re-evaluate, look at life with a different lens. I have been trying to do that the past while.
Take care.

I have The Noticer on my hard drive at the moment. I started it and I'm over halfway through but I have to admit that I'm not one for reading books online. It's much easier to hold it in my hand. I'm going to finish it now because you've reminded me and I also would like to find out how this transpires.

Not only do I try to see life through different lenses, I ALWAYS appreciate the perspective and wisdom of others’. ;)

Have just finished this book- loved it! Know what you mean about "off"- many said the same about "The shack" which I also loved- think it's good for me to see things 'packaged differently' to challenge me and keep me out of ruts. Both books made me aware of the many ways in which God can touch our lives, even if ficticious. In The Noticer, Wisdom is an old man, but the wisdom dispensed is solid gold and transforms lives, and that's what I love to read about. I guess the Message bible's way of putting things is not everyone's cup of tea either, but I love it. God Bless from down under in New Zealand.
