painting that was gifted to me by Silke Powers - March 2010
A few weeks ago I was thrilled beyond belief when my friend Silke Powers told me that I had been one of two winners for the giveaway she was doing of her work. The painting arrived the other day and looks amazing on the antique secretary desk I have in my living room, and when I look at it I can't help but smile and think of Silke.
There is something about Silke's work that captures my sense of beauty and wonder and fills me with a sense of strength and soul power. My own invention I believe, "soul power" (no play on her surname either!)...that feeling of growth and depth that comes from the centre of the body and emanates outward.
It may be the eyes...what Silke sees when she is painting is reflected in the eyes of the women in her work. The eyes that tell a story.

Silke is not only a painter, she crochets and knits and makes beautiful scarves. These two are examples of the different styles she creates. The bottom one looks more like a field of ribbon or a field of flowers, but yes, it is a scarf!

As always, wonderful Friday Eye Candy!
I've been a fan of Silke's for awhile. She is a gifted artist and captures something very special in her paintings. I'm going to check out her scarves too.
It is in the eyes. She captures emotions behind the eyes.
I also loved the scarf. So beautiful!
Silke does beautiful work, thank you for sharing it with us:>)
Her work is amazing! I am always inspired by artists like Silke. I can barley draw a stick person. It just amazes me how each of us has our own unique gift. Thank you for highlighting this beautiful soul!
