I've got cards on my mind. I've been making them, promoting them, selling them and now I need to get down to doing the ones on my own list.
I was reading Paula's blog the other night and love what she was talking about. You must go and read this post here as she says it all so beautifully.
Cards arriving for Christmas. When I was a child there were so many cards, with handwritten messages from family and friends both near and far and how exciting it was to see all those cards on display. To read the messages or look at the photographs that had been sent. Where have they all gone? True I'm older, many of my family are no longer with me, but it seems like the art of card sending has died out with that generation. So many people no longer send cards -- they choose rather to send an email message or a digitally created card but it seems the act of writing a card and addressing an envelope is devolving into a lost art. I realize that the stamps are expensive and so are the cards. But I think it's more than that. I think it is a society that has become sucked into a vacuum of "the easy way". We are now raising generations that only know technology. Technology has given us much at the expense of much.
So I'm joining in with Paula's idea. If you miss receiving cards through the mail and would like to receive one from me, please send me an email with your postal address and I will pop one in the mail for you. You don't even have to be a regular commentor, you can even be someone who just likes to read my blog. That's okay. Seriously. You'll find my email address on my profile which you can connect to on the sidebar.

Wow what a neat idea. You know I would love a card from you. I think I got one from you last year. I'm terrible. I've gotten out of sending cards. I'll send a few, but not like in the past. Maybe I'll get back into it this year.
Hope you have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Charlie
What a beautiful post. I was just thinking with all of my recent life changes and a family that is not here for me, I have no cards to send (or receive) this year. It will be a very different Christmas for me this year. Your post reminded me of how so many of us have forgotten the true spirit of Christmas.
PS Thanks for promoting Mr. Sole Monkey on your side bar (and signing up!) You are now listed on my sidebar as one of his agents! :)
I love receiving and giving cards, but even more I love making them myself. In high school I sometimes gave self-made Christmas-cards to my friends. The answer was often a standard card in the mail, without much personality. Than I'd rather get nothing, actually. You don't have to send me a card (that would be expensive with me living overseas), but I think it's a lovely idea that shows great caring!
I too celebrate Christs Mass (Christmas). It is a religeous festival for Christians and those who believe in Jesus Christ. I feel very strongly about this.
I have been writing my cards today and have already given one or two out. Yours is all addressed up and waiting to be sent out to you x
I’m sending and receiving cards this year! ;)
I miss the written letter, too. E-mail is certainly a faster & more efficient way to communicate but there’s just something about the time, effort & thought put into the writing of a letter. I’m down to only one person I communicate with that way.
I love Christmas cards. I love to send them (be on the lookout -- a little something will be on its way soon). I save them from year to year thinking I will recycle them in some way ...
Hugs-
I still send cards, after a life transition hiatus I will mail them again this year. It is a lovely gesture and a way of keeping in touch with friends that have no computer (yes, they are out there!). I am so happy we share a favorite Christmas flick! Yes, synchronicity in deed. :)
I'm making cards to send this year, though I must confess, there have been years I didn't even send store bought cards. I'd love to exchange cards with you if you will send me your address to me at: debbiedoughty@gmaildotcom.
You are very right about cards. It seems each year there are less and less in the mailbox. I hate to think everyone is moving to "the easy way" for everything!
I haven't sent Christmas cards in years. This year I did! I even made them myself. I was thinking about it and realized that in order to get them, I had to send them. It has been such an awesome process for me! Thanks for sharing with us!
Have a great day.
Sending Christmas cards is not much practised here.
you are so kind. i dont celebrate christmas, but i love the festivities of the season. i used to love seeing strings of cards decorate the living rooms at this time of the year. ecards are just not the same, are they?
I love receiving Christmas cards...it is old fashioned and a bit sentimental but I love it regardless. I am sending out some this year and I might follow your lead on the blog...great idea, xv.
I am seeing if I can leave a comment now without my Browser crashing. I honestly think it's due to the snow widget that people have. I just tried to leave a comment on someone else's Blog that had the snow and it crashed. We shall see if this makes it through this time :)
I love getting cards too but no one I know sends them anymore. They all do email :)
Love you,
LuLu~*xoxo
I miss written cards too. I miss letters. When I was growing up I used to write letters all the time to my friends over summer break, my cousins who lived far away and even my grandma who lived close! And although email and such is a much faster way to be in touch I think that the sentiment and personal touch is missing that only hand written can give.
I would love to receive a card from you and send you one!! I will message you on FB and we can exchange info!
xo
Sherry, great minds think alike !
I had taken the pic and was ready to post about my afternoon writing Christmas Cards, when I read your blog. I miss letters as well. How much will the future generations miss? Looking at an email of a famous person or a family member just doesn't seem the same as seeing their personal handwriting. check out my post to see some precious examples of cards I receive.

I was just wondering about that very thing this week. I have received a few so far, but I have to admit I send out a few less every year. Expense and time are the culprits, but I still sit down and write them out to my best friends and closest relatives and it usually amounts to 30 or 40 cards.
I agree as well.....
You got me there ...
I don`t seem to write many letters/cards now ! And i have a favourite black parker pen gathering dust somewhere !
However i did come up with a video message for you didn`t i instead of a card ?
I`ve even said myself writing is becoming a lost art in todays technology that`s available and people seem glued to their phones to text to communicate in some way , it is sad that it seems in a decline .When actual face to face or hand written communication is better recieved and appreciated .
