For the first time in a long time, I sit here wishing that there was at least one more day worth of weekend. I'm exhausted, my husband is exhausted, my son is exhausted...but we pick up and carry on. On Saturday night son 17 had a late hockey game (9:15 p.m.). That time is usual for this age group. The team they played is more goon than finesse and it was rough from the drop of the first puck. It didn't help that the referee and two linesmen were sloppy and that the referee should have retired years ago (controlling this age group is impossible for him). With less than 5 minutes in the game, an opposing player tackled my son by taking his legs out from underneath him (intent to injure and amazingly the referee made the right call). What resulted was a crash into the boards, shoulder first with the arm at the "wrong" angle and a loud pop which my son heard as he landed. And a 4 hour wait at the emergency department. It would happen on a Saturday night. Party night, fight night...and of course patients are taken in order of need. X-rays were taken when we arrived at 11:30 p.m. and by 3:30 a.m. he was finally seen to be told it looked very much like a separated shoulder (this doctor was not in a position to make a positive ID). We left with his arm in a sling and an appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon at 8:30 a.m. this Thursday. Hopefully he won't require surgery and it will just mean physio, and of course Mr. Hockey is hoping he'll only be out of the arena for a week.
Up early yesterday and out of town to visit son 21 and not home until late. As I said...another day of weekend would suit me just fine!

I was pleased to be honoured with this blog award by both Bonnie and Snap. I've been told on a number of occasions that I am "over the top" so I suppose it's fitting! The idea with this is to answer the following questions with one word answers and then pass the award on. I'm not one for passing things like this on to specific people -- some might not want to do it and others might like to and I didn't ask them. Therefore, I will leave this to anyone who reads this. If you would like to play along, please do. You'll note I treated this rather lightly. Could be the extreme fatigue..or it could just be that's how I am!

You are a good momma. Rest now, and hopefully that goon boy will rest a little too. Make it Meditation Monday instead of Manic Monday !
Congrats on the award, over-the-top one ! Like the one word thing.I will see if it fits in to my composition today !
Much love !
Consider today a holiday Monday - you deserve it after this past weekend!
Love # 33!
Oh Sherry, not a relaxing weekend at all, so it is no surprise that you need another day (or two!) So sorry to hear your son was injured. I will be praying that it isn't found to be too serious and that he will heal quickly. Put your feet up if you can. You need that extra day!
Oh my, what a weekend! Hockey is such a hard game. Hope it isn't too serious.
What weekend? It's so hard to lose a weekend in the shuffle of life. This was the first weekend in ages that I actually had rest time. I'll share:) Wish it was that simple. Sounds like you need to find some downtime this week. I said a little prayer for your son.
I have been telling hubby the same thing! Three-day weekends. Actually, I'm trying to find the job where they will pay me just for being nice.
So sorry about your son's injury. Hope he's back at it very soon.
**blows kisses** Deborah
Isn't today a holiday? Somewhere???
Hope the son's shoulder is fit as a fiddle soon.
Loved the one word answers.
I feel just like that little kid looks! Pooped!
It was great to read all your answers to the questions :)
Love,
LuLu~*xoxo
did you leap over the gate and put the mama-smack-down on the kid that took out your boy?
i have a very hard time resisting those urges, and it is quite embarrassing to my husband. i will go and get right up into a kid's face, figuring if his mama didn't teach him right, i will!
A nap sounds like just the ticket for you, my friend!
Totally commiserating here on two counts: 1. I could have written that post myself. My son is 18 and I have been to the ER with him with broken bones more times that I care to remember. I also was told the doc there at the time could not 100% read the films and we had to get a call the following day telling us there was indeed a break that needed casting. And 2. I was feeling utterly exhausted today too. I loafed on the couch for part of the afternoon.
P.S. LOVE LOVE LOVE your header. Autumn maple leaves make me so happy.
Sorry to hear your son had an injury, sending healing energies your way!
Thanks for your comments about my new writing journal, lots of thoughts coming up for me to go through, I don't know why I didn't do this earlier!
Hope you get a few days to rest and recharge Angie:)
i am going to be praying for your son. i hope you are all able to get some rest. and i love this list. i adore learning more about you.
xo
Oh dear - sounds like you all had quite a weekend !!
I do hope your son`s shoulder gets better soon with no future problems .
Sometimes the weekends go by too quickly don`t they ! ? Even if we had a 3day one - we`d want more !
I hope you do finally get some peace - and rest - just for you ;o)
