I'll let my creative, "artsy fartsy" side do all the talking today. My back is still stiff and aching so sitting for long periods (or standing) is uncomfortable. I did manage to spend some time playing with paint yesterday and that felt good. Simone had asked if I would share some of the things I'm working on and I'm happy to do that.
This is what I did with the blue and yellow paint...playing with blending and texture and making a mess with my hands...
And I spent some time with the camera, working on a self-portrait for my "yes" class. I really like this one -- it's out of focus and yet...it is me. I am quite often "out of focus" and given the discomfort I've been feeling the last few days, I truly am out of focus. This smile? That's me. And it's one of the best self-portraits I've taken in a long time where I know this is what I think I really look like! The assignment was a self-portrait that describes who you are...this one did it for me. I think mine is the only out of focus shot in the class and even that made me feel good!
These two pieces were from my first week working in Carmen Tourbus' Spill It class...I still need to decide which images I want to transfer to the canvases...

Thanks for sharing your creative side! Sorry to hear your back is still bad and sending you healing thoughts!! Hope you share how these canvases turn out!
These are beautiful! I do love the self-portrait and your satisfaction with it! Makes me smile right back at you!
My zine arrived yesterday. It's great!
Wishing you peace and healing.
I love the colors you have used. I would love to do some painting, keep buying canvases to paint on and paint to do it, but just haven't made the leap, nor do I have the time. THanks for sharing a bit of you today! Enjoy the day! Erin
Busy, busy even with the back! WoooooHooooo!
Rarely are you out of (or lose your) focus!
I love the blending of the blue & yellow.
Feel better soon.
(artsy-fartsy? ha!)
Look at you !! ;o) Beautiful !
think of it as soft focus sweetie ;o)
I will have to try a self portrait - normally it`s M who takes mine - and i`m either grimacing at him or he gets a butt behind shot and i don`t see it until we download them !
I love the top colours - and it looks like a feather or leaf print ? - to me.
The bottom looks like bubble wrap printing too ;o) Fun Fun !
Sherry, you sure know how to make a beautiful mess with your hands...LOL!
So lovely. It seems you are having wonderful time with this class, and your work is beautiful! I like the self portrait too...you look so happy!
Wishing you a Happy Day full of everything that wish it to be!
Hugs :D

Oh yes, you've been busy! Great canvases, particularly love the last third one. So that's your smile, huh? Lovely. Self portraits are great, once you get past the awkwardness of looking at yourself, it's great to take shots when nobody else has to see them!
out of focus is not a bad thing! can't be, because that is how i wander through this world. my vision is like that, sometimes literally. i describe myself as being "lightly tethered", and it's close to being a synonym for out of focus.
it means you see boundaries fade and distances change, things blend in lovely and fey ways. it's a mysterious way to be, and opens you to all things magical.
LOVE yet another thing about you, sister Sherry.
You're a cutie Sherry! Keep playing and feel better soon!
Oh these are really gorgeous!! I love that you've stayed away from the paintbrush and developed these gorgeous textures! they're make a beautiful background for a blog too. Was thinking (you got me all inspired) you could use other things to make textures too, like doilies, and threads... sumptuous!
thea.
xx
I like th eout of focus and I love the smile ! Self-portrait means that you feel like it portrays some part of you from your own point of view. I have learned to love the shots I take of myself way more than the shots anyone else takes these days. Not sure what that means, but I am liking it !
Love all the artsy play ! I am taking two hours tomorrow away from craft fair and bird stuff to work on Carmen's class. I am behind and feel bad about it as I was lucky enough to win the tuition ! Gotta catch up tomorrow !
Have a cozy night, sweet one !
It's so good to see you painting again. Enjoy!
These are all so wonderful! Know what? An out of focus shot would be perfect for me...it's pretty much how I operate! Just ever so slightly out of whack!
Your paintings are BEAUTIFUL. I wish I had such talent. The color, the strokes, the feelings they portray... it's wonderful.
I popped by from our Bones of A Poet, ~Yes! class. I am loving your blog!
Amazing work and talent. Let it shine!
SO pretty!!! It's always fun to have a creative day! :)
Your eyes sparkle through the purposeful lack of focus - showing just how much you derive from your talents. Love your colour sense!
OH! I love the textures in these pieces. There are so many layers of wonderful in them! Awesome self-portrait!
Hope you feel better soon :)
great smile! and I like your colors a lot.
I LOVE your glasses! I especially love that the picture is out of focus :)
