Jennifer at Studio JRU has offered her readers an opportunity to participate in "A Glimpse", something seen and found in the world that offers a glimpse of splendor in the world. While travelling through the United States on the way to Myrtle Beach, my son and I stopped at one of the roadside rest areas that offered a glimpse at the Bluestone River. It was beautiful to stand so high and look down on the magnificence of the river, and all the foliage around it.
Then I looked down. At my feet was a very large slab of rock, and somehow, through this hard rock, a tree managed to grow. The roots were embedded in the rock, or perhaps the rock had grown around the roots. Either way, I was amazed that something could remain alive in conditions that were not optimal.
It made me realize how much this is like life. That tragedy happens, that life isn't always smooth and clear and that often we must continue to live in less than optimal conditions.
Seeing this filled me with hope. That anything is possible. Even when it seems hopeless.

Sherry Lee: Oh so true - and what an image to illustrate your thought! Thank you.
Great image! And it reminds me that this growth through hard places doesn't happen overnight. The growth is imperceptible if we're looking for it. It's when we look away for a time, and then look back that we realize what a miracle it is!
As beth wrote yesterday, it is never hopeless - thank God for that ! Conditions often seem less than optimal, don't they ? And it is strange how it can all change in one moment from peaceful to chaotic...makes me so thankful for the strong roots I have learned to build that keep me going... love, friendships, family, an appreciation of what is good, gratitude for the things that are optimal...Oh my sweet friend, life is so challenging, pretty freaking hard sometimes ! But those roots...they keep us holding on...
Sending much love to you, beautiful One !
Anything is possible ... yes ... and more! Wonderful photo and post.
How amazing! I am sure that having to force it's way into the rock to grow made it stronger too. Sometimes our troubles make us stronger if we just try to learn and grow instead of giving in to despair.
Great photo!
I'm always amazed how you view life and your surroundings. I know if I looked down at that tree trunk I would not have come up with the same conclusion.
It would have been another tree trunk to me.
Keep it up girl....I'm in awe.
Anything is possible! Beautiful picture and words... thank you so much for sharing 'a glimpse'!
(I hope to see you every week!)
What a lovely post, and so true. We keep going and make the best of things, leaning on each other as needed.
Great photo and I love your thoughts, as always. Life will find a way. Maybe the word should be love? Life is love and love is life.
I hope everything went well with your test!!!
“That anything is possible.”
Goes perfectly with the name of your blog, your way of viewing the world.
Did you connect this to the (In)Courage site? The last line ties it in with that so well.
I have one growing out of our sidewalk...it broke through all that concrete to get to the sunlight...amazing :)
Love,
