I'm having a difficult time adjusting to being "home". I have to make my own breakfast (no complimentary continental breakfast waiting on the counter when I awoke), I have to make my own bed (eh..that isn't really necessary...it can wait) and the only water I've heard is the toilet flushing and the pouring rain from last night. Not really "tides" but the swirl of the water in the toilet bowl could vaguely be considered "waves".
I'd say it's time to pick up where I left off when I drove out of here on the 8th, but I'd rather not. Instead I think I will pick up right from "here", from this moment and start fresh. As I'm sorting through all the goodies we brought home, putting laundry away in it's rightful spots, I also think I will do some tossing and rejecting. Getting rid of things I don't want or need. It amazes me how much "stuff" I have that for some reason I thought I needed. Living out of a suitcase and in spare quarters for over a week made me realize how much I can do without.
Except shoes. Yeah, I came home with 3 pairs of shoes...with great sales in the U.S. I picked up 3 pairs of shoes for under $50 total. I love the no tax on clothing in Pennsylvania (!). I got the above shoes for $12.99 (originally $50) which are perfect for finishing out the summer. My only disappointment was the pair of Chinese Laundry t-strap wedges that were just a little tight and didn't come in a half size larger. Some things are just not meant to be (like making my bed today....).
I'm thinking "vacation mode" may become permanent....

Really cute sandals!
We surround ourselves with so much clutter! When I lose my weight, I am really looking forward to passing on my "fat" clothes!
Those sandals are gorgeous! I LOVE a bargain!
3 pair of new shoes! Cool!
And I so agree that we have so much stuff we do not need. I'm the worst about hording and holding on to long, but......at the same time we are artist. You never know when that little something might turn into a masterpiece. It's in our nature. tee hee.
Take your time about getting back to normal. Chores will always be there.
Hugs,
C.
I think we all pack way too many items for a holiday - just in case ones and co-ordinate with other ones. I pack - then take everything out and go through it again and see if i change my mind about anything !
As for clutter - lately i`ve been more ruthless with things , if i haven`t used it , love it or worn it in a year - it`s going !
Nice sandals btw too !! A bargain for all of them !!
If I win the Powerball (245 million this week) or come into some cash that can make things work, you and I are meeting at the beach, Miss Sherry. Books, shoes, bargain shopping, the ocean, photos of our feet, healthy and yummy food prepared by others and a loving friend like you to share it all with ? That sounds like my type of vacation !
Viva la vacation mode !
OH Sherry,
I understand you so well-
Post vacation syndrom I call that. Why the best things finish so soon?
A bit of Fen Shui will do you good. If you managed without all that stuff those days... Oh-and so should I! But also I am not on the mood of even making beds...
Welcome back Sherry Lee. I missed you! It is hard to re-aclimate to normal life - no maids - no ocean - but you seem to lead such a meaning-full life that I'm sure good things will soon fill the gap.
Look forward to your up-coming posts.
Oh yeah, hard to get back in the swing. It takes being away from our stuff to see how little of it we really need. Wanting is a different story. 3 pairs of shoes?! Sounds like it's time for a clean-out!
Do you ever wonder if part of the rason we relax on vacation is becasue we don't have all teh "stuff" to deal with? Less laundry, less posessions to think about....I never thought of that before!
Vacation mode sounds good. Is that like retirement? I'm still making the bed in the morning, but I don't set an alarm! I've never had a shoe fetish, but I really admire pretty shoes -- wish I could wear them. :(
Hi Sherry and welcome home
I love that feeling when you get home and you ask yourself what you can possibly want with all these belongings...then I have a huge clean out and head to the op shop with it all...
A shoe fetish huh? I have a boot you can add to the collection...
Happy days
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I love these shoes. I am sure Imelda has nothing on the two of us :)
