Heavy rain...days of rain...torrential downpours, one from yesterday that lasted 2 1/2 hours of steady, pelting rain. Thunder and lightning...neighbours with flooded basements and for some reason we were spared. The garden tells the tale...the anabelle hydrangea is beaten and battered with it's heads bent upside down (such delicate heads can't absorb the water). The coneflower and black eyed susans manage to keep their heads up. Both the flowers and I are looking for the sunshine.

Next time you are in my garden taking pictures, come in for a cup of tea and a little chat!!
Really, I have an Annabelle Hydrangea kissing the ground in the very same position.
Fabulous rainy day shots. Are you curled up with a good book? Which one today? I wish I was, but I am working with a blog designer to redesign my blog - it should be up soon and I'd love your honest feedback.

beautiful ! hopefully the sun will stay for awhile and warm you all up !
How pretty the flowers are. Yes, the rain has taken it's toll and has pelted the flowers till they fall head down on the ground. It seems to happen to my garden every year. It's bad enough that the season is so short. I now cut mine as soon as the rain has stopped so they can give me more pleasure.
Love the flower shots - the three colors of cone flower. Here's looking at less rain, more sun and definitely more warmth. August anyone?
We get some amazing storms in Nebraska that often threaten to drive us all underground. It's always fascinating to go outside after one of these downpours to see how creation has changed. I do love the air after a rain.
Hoping the sun will come and kiss your garden soon! Those cone flowers are so lovely!
Stunning photos Sherry. The rain can be so destructive. I remember Rossett flooding the year I was pregnant with Harry. The offices flooded, so much damage!
Hi there Sherry Lee
the flowers are still pretty
I like the downward droop of the cone flower petals, they look like pill box hats with veils...
Happy days
Lovely photos sherry !! Even though they got a battering !! You could cut some - and enjoy them inside .
We`ve had rain and strong winds - i keep checking my sweet peas - they`re still hanging in there !!
