After a fantastic thunder storm yesterday afternoon, it seemed like the ideal time to get outside, get my hands in the garden and follow this prompt to rub the page with dirt. Can I tell you how much fun this was?? I didn't even worry about keeping it neat and tidy...the messier the better! Trying to keep a fist full of dirt neat and tidy is a futile exercise anyway...it goes where it wants to!
I asked my son to come out with me and take the photograph and if any of my neighbours were peering out their windows I'm sure they wondered just what we were doing...and do you know, I really hope they were!
I have no difficulty getting my hands dirty, mooshing around in the mud. I was the Betty Crocker of mud pies in my childhood (I loved the feel of that mud oozing through my fingers), and as I recall there was one boy on the street who loved to be the taste tester of any mud pies that were being created (I sucked matches, he ate dirt...a very "wholesome" neighbourhood!! We'd have made the "perfect" couple! Allow me to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Dysfunctional!).
Life is a treat for the senses and playing in this journal is giving me a great deal of insight.

I loved making mud pies as a kid too.
Make believe playing was the best. We did not need toys to entertain us! Did we?
sounds like it is letting you really loosen up, wonder how your perception of other things will change after this experience.
I loved mud pies, still love the feel of dirt in my hands, but tasting it, yuck.
I will have to say that they say that's how farmers used to do their soil test - either alkaline or acid soil was bitter & the other sour, whereas the perfect pH was sweet.
I use to love playing with mud as a kid as well. LOL@the dysfunctional kid couple.
LOL
Let go, Sherry Lee. Baby, let your hair hang down...
I too loved playing in the dirt and was the Barefoot Contessa of mud pies.
Looks like fun. =]
Oh my, lol, I'm finding this a bit disturbing:># Won't it get all over everything? Can you tell I'm a little bit of a priss? lol
My favourite game as a child was mud pies and you have made me recall the sensation of the squish in my hands. Thanks for that xxx
My children have sensory probs so I try to teach them in a multisensory way with creams, jelly etc xxxx
LOL!
Playing outside barefoot making toys out of sticks and leaves and playing in the mud...there's nothing better (especially when you're a kid). I am enjoying it again now that my little girl gets so excited when she makes mud pies. Sometimes we adults have to realize getting dirty is very therapeutic.
Sounds like that neighborhood kid was the perfect match for you :-)
I am still dying laughing over the matches....you sucking matches and me eating dog food....we would have been great playmates!!
Love,
LuLu~*xoxo
I hope the neighbors were watching!
