Can You Judge a Wine By The Label?

When this is the label? But of course! I was looking for a nice white to take to my mother-in-law's for dinner on Sunday and saw this as I was walking down the aisle...

I love the beach and I would love a beach house and this label is fabulous. It's a sauvignon blanc from South Africa...and it's really refreshingly good!

I love how I managed to capture the sunlight and blend in the lime with this photograph! Just like being at the beach!!

When I was at the counter to pay, the cashier told me that this is new to the product line and she couldn't wait to try it. Apparently there was a write up in last week's newspaper and people were in looking for it but it hadn't yet arrived. I must have been one of the first in that store. The woman in line behind me was asking about it and ran to the aisle to grab a bottle. Great price point too -- under $10. Hope she enjoyed it as much as I did!

I left the bottle at my mother-in-law's so I'll just have to buy another bottle, just to look at it!

Saw that in the LCBO catalogue. I'm going to trust your taste and buy some - if you haven't already hit every LCBO around and there's some left!

Hmmm...that is a good question. I will ask my friend Kelly who is the wine critic for Chatelaine and see what she has to say. :)

I love wine labels too but I am a red wine buff so white does not appeal to me. Great label though x

Good packaging is no guarantee of good wine, but there's no doubt people are attracted by labels -- especially when they convey a sense of personality or history. Presentation matters!

Now I'll have to look for it here. I agree with you I'm attracted to labels also. And I probably would have picked this one up too just because of the label. That goes to show how advertising and marketing really work.

I usually look at lables carefully too. Historic. Vintage. With Character. This one is different. Just clean and tranquil. When i first saw it without reading your post, i thought of a refreshing bath product. :o)
I wonder if i can find it here. I will look for it today. My husband and i are red wine lovers but recently enjoyed white again. Especially during the summer i usually enjoy it equally. Thank you for the tip.

I've been known to buy many a bottle because of its labe...and have been pretty lucky in what I've gotten. This one is gorgeous!

What other criterion is there for choosing a bottle of wine?
