Seeing with Your Ears...

Following doctor's "orders", I managed to take in 30 minutes of sunshine on Friday afternoon...which by the way, was one of the most beautiful spring days we have had so far in southern Ontario.

While reading a book, I felt myself beginning to glow under the warmth of the sun. I closed my book and then my eyes and just "listened". I could hear a woodpecker, and then a few noisy robins. I heard a squirrel in the tree above me, picking away at something in his paws. I heard young children a few doors down, laughing as they played. That light, bubbly giggle that is the kind 3 and 4 years olds make. And when the mother said it was time to come in they didn't whine or moan, they laughed and said they weren't ready they were having too much fun. I nodded my head in agreement...please stay, just a little longer.

I miss that laughter and that bubbling forth now that my sons are much, much past that age. I always find myself smiling when I hear the wonder and the joy about life from little ones. As for staying outside, I felt the same way myself. We've all been stuck indoors much too long and it's time we were able to spread our wings just a little more.

It is always possible to find the joy in the day.

I love to just listen like this and see what sounds I can hear one by one. I hear many of the same sounds as you and have many of the same feelings. I guess I can add listening to the same thought pattern as looking at the moon and wondering who else is gazing at the same moon at that time, now it will be who is hearing similiar sounds.
You know we should all giggle more, regardless of our age, it does produce such sheer joy for the soul. Thanks for the reminder

Oh yes. I recognize that feeling. I don't know if we appreciate good weather more since we suffer from less of it for half the year or more (fellow Canadian here)but there is nothing like spring, right here, right now.

Yup, just loved hearing the kids play basketball right outside my window at 10:30 last night! Actually, it was kind of fun listening to them and it means the good weather is here!

Spring has so many beautiful sounds. I was coming home from work last week and I passed a swamp and heard the peepers! Those little frogs that make such sweet springtime music. It made me smile. The birds outside my window in the morning, everything is beautioful now:>)

When we lived in the woods of NC I worked at home. When I took a break fro my work table it was to go outside, sit on the steps of the deck, raise my face to the sky, close my eyes and listen to the quiet. The soughing of the wind in the pine trees was magical for me and soothing as a sweet soft lullaby.
