The Invitation...

A wonderful way to start a Sunday morning. I slept a little later than usual. I'm having good coffee and have been reading a good book. I'm on my second cup of coffee and now getting caught up with blog reading. I've had such a hectic, crazy week and a half that my usual routine went out the window (along with my old furnace). There is something about spring and renewal and the "busy-ness" that puts other things on hold...longer sometimes than I like.

I think this is a perfect "share" for a Sunday. Last night I was reading Lani Kent's blog Healing Expressions. Lani has shared her find from a book that was given to her by a friend. The book is called "The Invitation" and it is written by Oriah, who, as I discovered after going to her web page, lives here in Toronto.

Here is the beginning of this amazingly profound poem:

The Invitation

It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for love for your dream for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon...
I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed from fear of further pain.

If you are interested in reading more of this poem, click on Lani's link to her blog, or this link to Oriah's site

Thank you for reminding me of this poem - I have read it before, but it got lost somewhere. Now I will know where to find it again.
Have a beautiful Sunday, Sherry Lee!

Oh this is a lovely start ! Taking that time, inviting yourself to be in the soul moment...I am discovering that that is what it is all about. Glad you had time for yourself this morning.
Happy Sunday , Lovely Sherry !

What a great poem. You always share such thoughtful and thought provoking things, just one of the reasons I love to come visit:>)

It seems that there is so much sadness going around my internet buddies this time of year. That's one good thing this venue can provide - prayer and healing sent via total strangers from all over the world.

I like your interpretation of my windfall of "change". When I was writing my last post about it, I was searching for a word for the coins but all I could come up with, the word that kept coming back to me was "change". And then you pointing that out - it was quite wonderful, like a light coming on in my consciousness. Also the part you wrote about awareness, something I have been working on for over a year and I dare say that I actually have glimpses of it! We are all works in progress, aren't we? But it is so gratifying to have those moments of awareness.
