Today I will spend my time seeking beauty...not just the obvious beauty that is easily recognizable...I'm looking for the beauty in the everyday, the beauty in what would otherwise be considered ugly or unusual or not worth a second glance. I truly believe that beauty abides in everything. I'll let you know what I discover. Where do you see beauty?

So Sherry, your post yesterday about routines moved something in me. This morning, I changed it up ! Instead of stumbling to the coffee pot this morning and then onto the computer to check out my Blogland friends, I returned into the bedroom after that am pee, got dressed (my mind was arguing with me the whole time - it is raining, your hair is a mess, people will see you in your bed head and ex-smoker fat padding, etc...), ignored what I looked like in the mirror, grabbed my rain coat, my pedometer, some Rock My world rocks, my cell phone and my Concordia University baseball cap and went for a walk, sans the doggie, because this was all about ME!!!!
I walked for about 25 minutes. I left 10 or so rocks on park benches. I placed a rock with the word "sing" on it on a bench just as a huge crow cawed his head off at me from the tree above and made me jump, then smile. I saw the flash of red of a cardinal in a cedar bush, and the streak of blue as a blue jay flew across the street in front of me. I saw the white, yellow, purple and green of the brave crocuses that have emerged from under that winter covering, delicate yet strong at the same time, shining their light courageously.
Mundance beauties ? Perhaps to some. But the best part ? I shook up the "routine" and got out there to really "see" them ! The beauty abides in me and all around me, my lovely friend, and in you. I hope you really see it today.
Much, much love going to you on your beauty discover day.
You are so right, beauty is everywhere, Sherry Lee. Kind of a coincidence - I was thinking about beauty this morning as well. I know you will find it today, as it is all around us - we just have to be willing to notice.
Have a beautiful day!

Strange you should post about this today. Just this morning a spider was suddenly dangling in front of my face at the stove (building a web in the fan??) and instead of killing it (my usual inclination) I watched it spin around for awhile. It was fascinating and actually quite beautiful.
(I finally put him/her outside using a kleenex – probably ended up killing it anyway by doing so…)
cool project, thanks for always reminding me to be aware, there truly is beauty everwhere, if that is what you seek, that is what you will find.
Hi Sherry,
I have just discovered your blog, I love your thoughts about the 'routine', it's really something to think about. I also like your quotes.

So true. It is funny where you find inspiration when you break ranks and do things differently. You can see the beauty from a different view!
Good reminder!

Very nice post! Beauty is all around us. Sometimes we take for granted the way the blade of grass blows in the wind. The beauty of a bird in the tree, the squirrels running from tree to tree, the color of the sky, the sun sending hugs from above or hearing the silent of a quiet moment. The list is endless....
Have a golden weekend! xoxo
We live in a visible world - and like routine and habits dull your senses . It takes only a moment to to see what beauty is around us - if we only grasped it now and then .To recognise it - is to awaken it and bring forth it`s presence .
I see more - as i`m more aware - even if it`s just a fallen leaf on the ground .
Enjoy your weekend sweetie !
xoxo
Cant wait to see what you discover. The not so obvious everyday beauty.
I guess I'm rather obvious about my thoughts on what is beautiful.I always find I'm typical. I see beauty in flowers, the sunset, animals, people and so on. I'll be on this quest too.
We are so rushed everyday that it is easy not to see the beauty surrounding us.
It is easily pushed to the sidewalk and disregarded by cliches and it is time to rediscover.
lately i have seen so much beauty in everyday objects, in the voice of a friend, in the whisper of a child and in something as simple as a dandelion. a flicker of a moment can hold so much beauty. the question is not if something can be beautiful but if we can see it as being beautiful.
What a beautiful post.
I saw beauty in the ground outside today, something, actually a green something starting to sprout, and as you know we don't have much of that yet here in Ontario. I just had to go and touch it.
Now that my life has slowed down a lot, I see more beauty in the every day things that you just take for granted sometimes. I suppose that is what we all need, to slow down and be more concious :)
Will you share photos of your beautious finds? I hope so! I see you got that cool widget...
Beauty really is everywhere..especially in the simple things in life. There is beauty in nature especially. We often are too busy or absorbed in other things to really notice the tulips peeking out of the ground or the beautiful clouds above. Slowing down and just experiencing life...there is beauty in that for sure! Amy :)
