Routine. Same old things, day after day. So ingrained that you could do your daily routine in your sleep -- and sometimes the routine could put you to sleep. Routine is comfortable, we know it, it's familiar and it's "safe". It also becomes stale, flat and lifeless. I've been thinking about this for awhile and I noticed it quite heavily this morning as I was preparing my coffee -- in the same way, at the same time, in the same cup. I stopped the process for a moment to pay attention to what I was doing. Then I asked myself -- "is this what I really want this morning?" I continued to make the coffee and as I was sipping it I paid attention to the flavour, to what I was taking in.
No question..it's time to shake up the routine, take on some new projects, some new ways of doing things. Challenge doesn't have to be large, monumental or difficult. It can be as simple as changing the routine of starting or ending the day.
How fresh are your routines?

You keep me thinking Sherry! We seem to be on the same wavelength or maybe the same stage in life. I agree, time to shake things up:>)
There are days I wish I could toss my routines to the wind.
Other days (the crazy days…) I’m grateful for them.
But you’re right. I could do with some big shake-ups in terms of the larger picture! That’s where the changes need to be made…
I have always hated routine! Not easy in a world that runs so many, many things according to a set routine. I like random-ness, keeping things different, fresh, unexpected ! And yet, when I really think about it, I have become stuck in some patterns of behavior that have become stale routines. Time to shake things up INDEED !
Thanks, as always, for the yum-yums for my thoughts !
Love Kim
Nice to be able to comment again! And I love the new banner Sherry.
I really agree with your thoughts here. Sometimes routines are good, sometimes just boring. I think I'll change things up a bit as well.
Definitely something to think about, Sherry! I tend to stick to the same routines too ... maybe a few of them are outdated!
I think I'll find some chocolate and think about this for awhile! :)

A change - is a good as a rest .
I like to see them as " baby steps"
to alter in my life- you can always go back - if you want to - and find out it isn`t for you - but more often than not - we carry on with the new because it works out better .
oh yes. Change it up here and there. I hate getting stuck in a rut.
I have to say my routines are not real fresh right now. You got me thinking....gotta do something. I'll figure it out.
Good idea.
