At Face Value...

We're told "fairy tales" and "nursery rhymes" from a young age and we take those "tales" at face value. As far as we know or were told, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. I don't disbelieve this. He most likely did fall. But the possibility exists that he was pushed. Think about it. He represented the King, at a time of unrest. Did he simply "fall from power", or did he have a little help?

Much of life is like this...we are told a story, we read something in the newspaper, we "see" something with our own eyes and we draw a conclusion based on what we know -- without delving any deeper or asking questions. We accept what we are told. But what would happen when questions are asked, when we dig a little deeper to get to the other sides...not just the back and the front, but each side of a story? Wouldn't the perception change ever so slightly?

I love to scan through the Showcase pages on etsy every day. One day last week I came across Robbie Jenkins' work and burst out laughing at some of the quotes she has on her canvases. This one just made me happy with laughter.

And if you need proof that this possibility existed, they do say confession is good for the soul...

Both those quotations crack me up - as do the faces on those little girls!
Why did it never occur to me that someone pushed Humpty Dumpty? Or that perhaps Jill pushed Jack down the hill?

What a wonderful angle to create with these childrens nursery rhymes ! It certainly never crossed my mind - and to even think of any other version than the original story .

I love this too. Leave it to you to find these things to talk about. I never thought of it either. But....I do like to get both sides of the news. A result of living way down south.

I tried leaving this comment before but Google screwed with me...here's what I think I said !

This is a great find Sherry ! The art work is gorgeous and the quotes so hilarious !

Here is one I came up with in my PMS mind :

"JackSprat could eat no fat.
His wife could eat not leave.
She killed him in his sleep !" ;)

Think I should send it to Robbie ?

Happy Tuesday !
Love Kim

I couldn't agree with you more and this is my general philosophy toward life. There is always another side to a story, always something more to know or learn. Taking things at face value is something I try to avoid like the plague. Certainly I fall short at times but at least we try.

Fabulous artist and work you found, thank you so much!♥
